Using a cotton warp offers a gentle introduction to weaving with linen singles in the weft.
The layering of natural linen and burnt orange evokes the golden hues of threshed wheat, fitting for a structure known as “barley corn.”
Hence, the Granary.
Crisp in the hand—especially after a hard press—the floats in the lace weave are as functional as they are beautiful, offering extra absorbency. The extra-large format means there will always be a dry corner.
Whether hung in the kitchen or draped over a farmhouse table, these towels are made to be used and admired.
Weave Structure
The Spot Bronson weave structure was selected for these dish towels due to its warp and weft floats, which enhance the fabric's absorbency.
Each of the four towels features a distinct treadled pattern, though they all share the same threading: the "Rose Point Pattern" in "A Handweaver's Pattern Book" by Marguerite Porter Davison.
This choice of weave and pattern improves functionality and adds a unique visual appeal to each towel. The resulting fabric showcases the delicate interplay of texture and design, making these practical and beautiful dish towels.
Materials
Linen and cotton were chosen for these dish towels due to their superior absorbency and quick-drying properties. Linen, in particular, can absorb up to 20% of its weight in water before feeling wet, making it an excellent choice for kitchen use.
Both materials are also easy to maintain, as they can be conveniently washed in a washing machine.
Their natural fibers enhance the towels' functionality and ensure longevity and durability. This combination of absorbency, ease of care, and durability makes linen and cotton ideal for everyday kitchen tasks.
